Black students score lower on ACT

Hundreds of Iowa’s black students continue to leave high school
unprepared to attend a four-year college despite state education
leaders’ push for all students to take advanced-level courses in high
school.

Iowa’s average college-bound black student posts scores
that fall well below college readiness benchmarks in English, reading,
math and science portions of the ACT college entrance exam. Yet ACT
scores by other minorities and whites in Iowa indicate those students
are better prepared to attend college.

The ones that fail the ACT think that they will still get in to college cause they are black. If they would have studied harder, then they might have made it in to college.
